Honor

Alec has made Honor Roll this ENTIRE year - this is a first for him and with fingers crossed, some prayers, and constant reminders he will make it the entire year.

There are 20 (25 for those not vacationing to the Mickey Boat) days left of middle school. My stomach flip-flops thinking about it; thinking that in less than 4 months Alec will attend high school. High school.

A year ago I couldn't begin to grasp the concept of high school but Alec has grown - physically, emotionally, and academically - so much this year that I can see him there (at high school). I think.

Wonderfully Local

Our Spring Break was void of sandy beaches, crashing waves, and sea shells but had indoor water play areas.

Our Spring Break lacked fresh seafood; instead there were sparkle donuts, fro-yo with friends & a weekday lunch with Daddy.

Our Spring Break didn't need a change in wardrobe nor did our hair get bleached by the sun but it did have princess up-dos with friends.

 

Our Spring Break wasn't spent playing beach volleyball or seashell hunting instead there was a game of rat basketball!

I can't think of any other way I'd like to spend a week off work (except if Alec and Mike were off with us as well)!

Opposites

Last Easter was cold and rainy - conditions not conducive to Easter Egg hunts, new shiny patent leather 'dancing' shoes, or smiles as big as this one seeing as we spent the majority of the day in the ER deciphering the cause of Molly's swollen eyes and closing airway.

This Easter, however, was a day fit for smiles, new digs, and finding that special egg full of 'candy cups' while the older cousins frantically scoured the yard for the egg with the single $20 in it - their motto, "If the egg is silent when you shake it, keep it because there must be bill(s) inside!"

*Must remember to add change to all eggs next year to throw them off.

Looking Up

Spring break is right around the corner, we enjoyed time with our family this weekend, and the weather has been unexpectedly gorgeous. April has a lot to live up to!

The Buckeyes have made it to Round 2 in the NCAA playoffs and although that ignites excitement in our house, not as much as staying up late snuggled with Daddy & Brutus to watch!

In The Moment

One of the many parenting choices I struggle with is when to be in the moment and when to capture the moment for safe keeping.

This time I chose to capture.
